EDUCATING & EQUIPPING OUR COMMUNITY FOR BETTER FUTURES
The Youth Development Center (YDC) is a part-time educational program where young people are empowered to pursue greater futures and trained to become leaders in their communities. The YDC has a special focus on bringing youth to becoming followers of Jesus Christ.
The YDC is an established organization that falls under “University of the Nations.” This YDC, known as “YDC Kampot,” is an extension and branch of the larger organization, and was established in 2009 by Vuthy.
In the Kampot branch, we have more than 80 students enrolled and 5 full-time teachers. Youth come to the YDC for morning, afternoon, and evening classes Monday through Thursday. The YDC offers classes for English, leadership, and Bible. This program provides educational possibilities to local youth who do not have the financial capability to get an education outside the village. The students in the YDC attend public schools for Cambodian language courses, and the YDC gives them nearby access to education courses that the public school system does not offer.
One out of 5 children in Toch Village do not have the opportunity to continue their education past a middle school level. Due to financial insecurity, children withdraw from school to provide income and support for their families.

Our heart behind this ministry is to transform lives of children and their families in Cambodia through education and the message of Jesus Christ. We want to see change in a cycle where having no education and no opportunities leads to being confined to poverty.
